This month marks iSPARK’s 22nd year!
[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image media=”70297″ media_width_percent=”50″ alignment=”center” uncode_shortcode_id=”137612″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”922464″]In early August every year I reflect on the trepidation and excitement that comprised my long weekend in August of 2000. The Sunday scaries were at a whole new level that weekend because Tuesday morning was going to be my very first day as a fully self-employed individual.
Back then I was mainly worried about getting through the deliverables of the first 8-month contract. These days, our team juggles multiple contracts and projects that are all carefully managed in our online project management tool, Asana.
Sidebar: If you haven’t experienced Asana, I can tell you it is MY LIFE! I literally cannot start my day without it.
Anyhoo ….. Taylor Swift’s song, 22, has been running through my head non-stop for the last few days. Although most of the lyrics do not apply, there are a few snippits that resonate with my feelings about this 22-year long adventure:
- ‘We’re happy, free, confused and lonely at the same time’
- This pretty much sums up entrepreneurship in my opinion.
- ‘It’s miserable and magical’
- Again, an accurate description of what it’s like to own your own business.
- ‘Tonight’s the night when we forget about the deadlines’
- I’d be lying if I said I love being held hostage by the deadlines.
- ‘It feels like one of those nights we ditch the whole scene’
- Well, tonight isn’t the night that I ditch the whole scene, but I do sometimes dream about running away to a deserted island and living unplugged by the beach.
All this to say …. I can’t believe it’s been 22 years. I have loved (almost) every minute of it. Thanks for reading, following along on social media, connecting by phone, email, or text, and for simply being part of my network.
