Newsletter | Life on pause. Can you relate?

April 2021 –April is normally a really exciting time for me. It’s when our team finishes a big project for a client, and we all breathe a sigh of relief that it’s over, and we have another one in the books!

I’ve been in the habit for the last several years of jetting off for 7-10 days in April. I find a cozy little beach hideaway where I can hunker down to decompress and relax. I keep my cell phone turned off. I read one entire book every day. I take long walks, nap, shop for frivolous items, and soak up the sun.

I typically daydream about this April get-away on a daily basis between January and March when our workload at iSPARK is at its peak and every single day feels like a new tsunami of deadlines and deliverables. It’s really the only thing that gets me through the first 3 months of the year.

Like everyone else, it has been an incredibly long time since I’ve had a vacation. I personally can’t bear to even look at those tropical vacation pics on Instagram that flood my feed.

Life is on pause. It feels like a never-ending timeout.

What can we do to pass the time, to profit from this enforced slow-down with more time spent at home? Haven’t we run out of closets to clean and bread to bake?

This list of 50 Free Things You Can Do During Lockdown caught my attention. In particular, #16, #18, #25, #26 and #35 are probably going to end up filling some of my free time over the next few weeks.

I’m also going to be blogging more about our virtual event production services because we’ve created some pretty cool ways to engage sponsors in online event activations as we all wait for the whistle that signals go time.

Furthermore, it’s a positive sign to see more investment for recovery efforts for industries that have been hit the hardest during this pandemic. Maybe May will turn out to be the month when we all get back in the game.

Happy Spring!
